A popular radio due to its simplistic design, the TK-3000 has a black box appearance making it easy to use for even unexperienced radio users. On the top of the radio alongside the antenna is both a volume and channel selector knob, whilst on the left hand side of the radio is a textured push to talk and programmable button, with these being the only active features, this is the reason radios of this look are branded as “black box design”.

Although a fairly compact device the TK-3000 is built to a IP54 protection rating. This rating ensures that the radio has a limited Ingres protection against dust whilst also being safeguarded against splashes of water. The TK-3000 is also built to military standards meaning that Kenwood have put it through various tests to confirm that it can continuously perform in environmental conditions such as humidity, salt fog, vibration, shock and temperature shock.

The TK-3000 has 16 channels available for programming, this more than sufficient should the radio be used in a small to medium sized business. Should you want to, or require it, then the 16th channel can be programmed to be a scan channel, this will allow for the user to quickly scan through any programmed channels to check for ongoing transmissions.
